As countless millions of people are suffering all types of deprivations around the world, including those in the Advanced Capitalist-Imperialist Technological Societies (ACITS), and millions are facing hunger and famine, like in Sudan, Gaza, Southern Africa, and Argentina, etc., the world military spending reached the highest level in 2023, $2 trillion and 443 billion, under the political economies of capitalism and imperialism.  As I wrote in some of my previous articles, in the newly emerged and emerging capitalist and imperialist multipolar world, militarism, military spending, and wars and conflicts are certain to greatly increase.  The only solution to this and other greatest problems that have developed in the history of mankind and the planet is global socialism, the possibilities of which have greatly diminished after the grand betrayals of socialism in the USSR, Eastern Europe, and China. Humans are now rushing full speed towards the abyss and they will take most other life forms with them.  As in the past, US imperialism is leading the way.

Global Military Expenditure Reaches New Record High of $2,240 Billion in 2022

Note by Fazal Rahman

These ever-increasing gigantic military spendings are one of the numerous gigantic symptoms of the developmental dynamics of global capitalism, dominated by the US and Western imperialisms, the fundamental causes of which involve the developmental dynamics of capitalist and imperialist human natures, which have already created the greatest problems in the history of this planet, during the past few centuries, and especially in the 20th and 21st Centuries. And yet, information and knowledge on the co-evolution of capitalism, imperialism, science and technology, and capitalist and imperialist human natures are almost non-existent.  In fact, these mutilated human natures are totally unaware of their sinister natures and, to the contrary, consider themselves the epitome of human development!  Such human natures, cultures, and mass psychologies are also being internationalized.  Overwhelming majorities of humans everywhere are in a frenzy to become the greatest and most efficient killing machines, in addition to become the biggest money-bags and insatiable consumers of as many products as they can buy.  When human nature becomes unsustainable, nothing else can be sustainable.  Sustainability in such a civilization is a myth and self-contradictory.

SIPRI’s estimates of military spendings are based on official figures. However, actual figures are much higher, as the US government, as well as many other governments, hide parts of their military spendings in other categories of their budgets.

The Simple Solution to Inflation No One is Talking

Ian DeMartino

Inflation has hit a 41-year high, currently sitting at 9.1%, forcing Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen to admit that the rate “remains unacceptably high” and it is the president’s top priority to “bring it down.”

There are many theories about why inflation has spiked out of control. Most economists point to a few factors: increased spending, mainly through economic stimulus, decreased supply due to pandemic-related supply chain issues, and increased production costs, mostly due to increased energy costs.

Those factors undoubtedly played a big role in contributing to inflation, but it could be argued that some of them, like economic stimulus during a pandemic, were necessary, while others, such as supply chain issues, were beyond the control of the US government and that gas prices, while certainly a result of policy, have proven resistant to attempts to address the issue.
