American Dream = American Nightmare

Ballooning Expenses: Unpacking High Costs Behind ‘American Dream’

Note by Fazal Rahman

So-called American Dream has always been based upon capitalist-imperialist materialism, which has sickened, perverted, and distorted the souls and intellects of its inhabitants.  It has been a nightmare for much of rest of the world and has now also become a nightmare for its own majority, even in strictly materialistic terms.  After invasion of America and most brutal genocide of its natives, the European invaders and their descendants transformed the pristine paradise on Earth into concrete monstrosities of huge crowded  cities, have created an extremist form of capitalist-imperialist civilization, and all types of weapons of mass destruction, as well as pollution of soil, air, water, and food.  They have also exported this civilization to much of rest of the world.  They extracted great wealth from the resource-rich lands of the colonized country, which numerous generations have benefited from.  They also maximally exploited the natural and human resources of rest of the world and transferred these to their imperialist center.  However, after centuries of such parasitic affluence, the balance of economic and military powers has shifted, which has put powerful brakes on the national and international parasitism. The complicity of overwhelming majority of population with their ruling class is now backfiring on it., which has been effectively immunized against understanding the real nature of this crisis and its causes.

Cross-institutional networks of racist employment and other forms of discrimination in the US of A: A case study within the general politico-economic context

By Fazal Rahman, Ph.D.                     May 18, 2021 (written May 10, 2021)

In recent years, killings of Blacks by the police and police brutality against them have greatly intensified all over the US. In almost all the cases, the victims were unarmed and posed no threat to the police or anyone else.  Police could have easily managed to arrest them, instead of brutalizing and killing them. In most cases, the killer cops got away with impunity in the classist-racist judicial system of this country. These events have sparked nationwide protests by the Blacks and their supporters, against such monstrous classist-racist injustices.  Blacks and their supporters are focusing on a single issue in these cases, that is, the racist police brutality and killings of Blacks with impunity. However, it is essential to also place these within the context of   political economy of the interactions of racism and classism in this society, and identify and understand the precise causes that are created by these interactions, which produce all the various classist and racist institutions, including those of the law enforcement agencies and the police departments.  The police departments are not alone in inflicting monstrous injustices and atrocities on the Blacks and other minorities, even though, these become glaring and become widely publicized, because of their very nature, and the large scale protests that these provoke among the victimized and oppressed communities in the country.  Incomparably larger numbers of professional, economic, and judicial injustices and atrocities are committed against the Blacks and other minorities by almost all the various public, private, government, judicial, and other institutions, also with impunity, in most cases.  The classist and racist police brutality in the US is a product and reflection of the classist and racist politico-economic, mass psychological, and cultural brutality.

Hate crimes and brutal assaults on Asians by racists, in various parts of the US, have also increased enormously.
